Does an Unsecured Internet Connection Lead to Slow Internet Speed?

An unsecured internet connection can cause slowdowns in internet speed. This happens when other people connect on your unsecured network. It will lead to slow loading times, decreased upload speeds, and low downloading speeds. The result is that you suffer. Of course, you do not want this to happen because you are the one who is paying for the internet connection bill. So what you should do is to secure your internet connection to make sure that you and the people you authorize to use your internet will be the only ones who can connect to your network. Follow the guidelines below to secure your internet connection network.
Making Your Account Private
When you have just availed a new internet connection, your internet connection network will have its default username and password which are provided by your internet service provider. To safely secure your network, it is highly recommended for you to change these default username and password to your own liking. You may not know that some hackers may have the list of the usernames and passwords from your ISP. They may hack into your network for internet connection. So make sure to change the default username and password to make your internet connection network private.
WPA/WPA2
One of the most common methods that people use to secure their internet connection is the use of WPA or WPA2. WPA and WPA 2 stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access and Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 respectively. Choosing either one of these will allow you to have an encryption method of your choice and make your internet connection network private by imposing a password or security code.
Make sure to use choose a password or security code for the WPA or WPA 2 that cannot be easily guessed by other people. This will ensure that you and the people you gave your password the only ones who can connect to your network. If you think that other unauthorized people are connecting to your network, you can use the tool called charter speed test which can help you test your internet connection speed and determine the upload and download speed. You can then know if the speeds you are getting are what your ISP has promised you to have.
